How To Use
DO SKIN ALLERGY TEST 48 HOURS BEFORE EACH APPLICATION EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY USED COLORING PRODUCTSWHOLE HEAD OF COLOR
(IDEAL FOR FIRST-TIMERS OR FOR CHANGING YOUR EXISTING COLOR.)
STEP ONE MIX IT!
| - Use an old towel to protect your clothing and household surfaces. Put on your gloves.
|
| - Pull up the tab to remove the plastic tip of the Developing Crème [2] and discard tip. After removing tip, unscrew the nozzle.
|
| - Unscrew top of the ColorFused Gel [1] and pour every last drop into the Developing Crème [2].
- For shades XL2 and XL4, squeeze every last drop of the ColorFused Gel [1] (previously opened for skin allergy test – see below) into the Developing Crème [2].
|
| - Replace the applicator nozzle of the Developing Crème [2].
- Place gloved finger over tip, point away from face, and shake vigorously for at least 15 seconds, until totally blended.
- Apply color immediately to hair.
|
Once mixed, never reseal bottle or store color mixture in a closed container as it could burst.
|
STEP TWO COLOR CLEVERLY!
| - Squeeze applicator bottle to apply mixture onto hair.
- When lightening, squirt mixed color first where hair is darkest. For that please-go-away-gray, squirt mixed color first where hair is grayest.
- Work through hair to distribute evenly from roots to ends, but do not rub into scalp.
- Pile hair loosely on top of your head and begin timing.
- If any color gets on your skin or household surfaces, simply wipe it off with a damp paper towel.
- Throw unused mixed color away. Once mixed, product will lose its effectiveness after one hour.
- PLEASE NOTE: The color of the product is not indicative of the color results.
|
STEP THREE TIME IT FLAWLESSLY
| - Time for 25 minutes or the time indicated by your strand test.
- For more intense results, for stubborn gray, or for shades XL2 and XL4, leave on for a total of 40 to 45 minutes.
|
STEP FOUR RINSE AND SHINE!
| - Wearing gloves, add warm water to hair and gently work into a lather.
- Rinse until water runs clear.
- Apply Herbal Essences Color-Amplifying Conditioner [3] to lock in color and seal in high-beam shine.
- Let it work its magic for 2 minutes.
- Rinse and style.
- Save your Color-Amplifying Conditioner [3] and use once a week for up to a total of six weeks for continual shine release.
|
ROOT APPLICATION
(IDEAL TO COVER NEW GROWTH OR TO REFRESH COLOR AFTER 4-6 WEEKS.)
| - Mix the ColorFused Gel [1] and Developing Crème [2] as described in STEP ONE. Part hair into 4 sections and secure with plastic hair clips.
- Let down the first section and make small parts with the applicator tip. Apply mixed color only to new growth at the roots. Continue section by section, until all root hair is saturated with Herbal Essences Color Me Vibrant.
- If any color gets on your skin or household surfaces, simply wipe it off with a damp paper towel.
- Let hair drink in color mixture for 20 minutes (or 5 minutes less than the time indicated in your strand test). Leave on up to 40 minutes for vibrant red shades, shades XL2 and XL4 or to cover those please-go-away grays.
- Next, work remaining product throughout the hair right down to the ends. Leave on for 5 more minutes.
- Throw unused mixed color away. Once mixed, product will lose its effectiveness after one hour.
- Rinse and condition as outlined in STEP FOUR above.

WHOLE HEAD OF BLONDING
for shades XL0 and XL1
(IDEAL FOR FIRST-TIMERS OR FOR CHANGING YOUR EXISTING COLOR.)
STEP ONE MIX IT!
| - Use an old towel to protect your clothing and household surfaces. Put on your gloves.
|
| - Holding away from face, shake the Bleach Blonde Powder [1a] packette before opening to make sure contents settle to the bottom.
- Remove the cap from the Developing Crème [2] bottle and pour the contents of the Bleach Blonde Powder [1a] packette into the bottle.
|
| - Put on the special applicator tip and place a gloved finger over the opening. Shake well until powder dissolves.
|

Never reseal bottle or store lightening mixture in a closed container. Once mixed, a sealed container of lightener could burst.
|
STEP TWO LIGHTEN CLEVERLY!
| - For longer hair: Comb hair thoroughly. Part hair into 4 sections and hold it in place with plastic clips. Using the tip of the applicator bottle, apply mixture generously to each section. Apply 2/3 of the mixture starting 1-inch from the scalp through to the ends. Be sure to saturate each hair strand. Careful! Don't pack your locks down; when finished, pile hair loosely on your head. Don't use all the mixture, as you will need some for the roots later on.
- If any of the lightening mixture gets on your skin or household surfaces, simply wipe it off with a damp paper towel.
- PLEASE NOTE: Use enough product to ensure the hair is fully saturated. As the hair is lightening, if you see any dark spots or uneven coverage, reapply more mixture to these areas.

Clairol Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT PRODUCTS DOES CLAIROL MAKE?Clairol makes haircolor products. Choose from Semi-Permanent (lasts through 8-12 shampoos), Demi-Permanent (lasts through 28 shampoos), Permanent (lasts until your hair grows out or you recolor) or Highlighting & Blonding to help you become colorwonderful.
SHOULD INDIVIDUALS WITH NATURAL, UNCOLORED HAIR USE DIFFERENT HAIRCOLOR PRODUCTS THAN THOSE WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY COLORED THEIR HAIR?It depends on the desired result. If you are coloring your hair for the first time and only want to enhance your natural color, try a Demi-Permanent (lasts through 28 shampoos) product close to your natural haircolor. If you want to go lighter, you need to select a Permanent (lasts until your hair grows out or you recolor) haircolor, then refer to the insert that comes inside your box of Clairol haircolor and follow the instructions for first time application.
SHOULD PEOPLE WHO WANT TO COVER GRAY HAIR USE DIFFERENT COLORING PRODUCTS THAN THOSE WHO DON'T NEED COVERAGE?Most Clairol haircolor products will blend or cover gray hair to some degree. If you have a small percentage of gray (not very visible), use a Semi-Permanent (lasts through 8-12 shampoos) product, such as Loving Care. If you have a higher percentage of gray hair (up to 50%), use a Demi-Permanent (lasts through 28 shampoos) product such as Natural Instincts, which will blend away gray hair.
On the other hand, if you have a lot of gray and want to cover it completely, use a Permanent (lasts until your hair grows out or you recolor) product. If you have 50% or more gray, use Nice 'n Easy Gray Solution.
HOW CAN I TEST-RUN A COLOR BEFORE COMMITTING TO COLORING MY ENTIRE HEAD OF HAIR?Strand test is a simple method for you to test haircolor on a portion of your hair before doing the entire application. (The instructions are in your haircolor box.) It's an important step because it's the only way to see exactly how the shade you selected works with your starting haircolor to achieve the resulting color. A strand test will also help you determine the exact timing you'll need to color your whole head.
WHERE CAN I FIND PRODUCT INSTRUCTIONS?Product instruction inserts are inside your haircolor box.
